Challenge: Update the online brand of a 51 year old concert venue with a vast amount of history, photos and a rich timeline of great entertainment.
Solution: Partnering with Ticketfly and their amazing WordPress-driven framework made offering a robust CMS and eCommerce solution to The Cotillion very easy. I was able to develop a visual theme that drew inspiration from mid-century modern design, while still remaining on the bleeding-edge of web design.
A large part of this project was telling the story of The Cotillion, so we split this up into a variety of sections to create a better information hierarchy. Between photo archives, a historical overview of the club, and a detailed timeline of events and tremendous acts that have been grateful to entertain crowds at The Cotillion since it opened, each visitor now has a much better understanding about how passionate and dedicated the venue staff is to always putting on a great show.
In order to leverage social networks such as Twitter and Facebook, I plugged-in a global Twitter feed to display the most recent updates, I integrated Facebook comments across the event pages to allow for discussions about events to occur both on the site and on each visitors Facebook news feed. Additionally, each event on the site can be assigned to an Facebook event and visitors can RSVP from The Cotillion site.
The Cotillion also now promotes it’s events using email marketing and SMS updates, so signup forms for these services were strategically placed within the content hierarchy to maximize visitor opt-in.
Finally, in order to leverage those concert-goers that are always moving, a mobile-optimized version of the site was created on the fly using the Ticketfly framework.
Wichita now looks really cool.
